[ENG]

On the north side of Nørre Ådalen, on the old road between Randers and Viborg, is Ålum Church. It is quite large for a village church to be, and that is because for several hundred years it belonged to the noble family Skeel from the nearby manor house Fussingø. The family's many tombstones characterize the interior of the church to an overwhelming degree, and outside the entrance, runestones tell that the place here has been of great importance for more than 1000 years.

The church is built of square stone over a double plinth and consists of a nave, chancel and apse from around the year 1200 as well as a tower and porch from the end of the 16th century.

Today, the church is a village church, but also a historical monument. The Skeel family's relationship with the church, which was used as a noble church, is seen everywhere in the church room.

There are many historical elements on the site, including 4 rune stones, a distinguished entrance portal, old reliefs and 2 beautiful marble sarcophagi.

The many historical topics are described in a pamphlet found in the church's porch.
