The Billy Goat Trail Section A is a 1.75 miles trail, coupled with the C&O canal it becomes a loop trail at 2.85 miles. This trail is very scenic, but it is the most strenuous of the three sections of the Billy Goat.
The suggested direction of the trail is one way/ downstream so depending on where you park, you will either do the C&O canal first or second.
During the winter or very unpopular times (rain, very cold weather, etc), you can go both directions on the trail as a user could find themselves alone.
