"St Martin would have had a chapel erected during its passage around 360, but it was destroyed shortly after by the barbarians. In 972, there are traces of a new church erected in honor of St Martin.

The brick church with stone corbels is neoclassical in style. Its portal is surmounted by a triangular Greek pediment. The bell tower on the facade comprises four orders and measures 52 meters in height. Vers 1800, une famille logeait dans la tour afin d'assurer la permanence du fonctionnement du télégraphe aérien.

En1917, la tour s'écroule sous les coups répétés des canons britanniques et du dynamitage de la tour par les allemands qui en avait fait un poste d'observation. En 1923 débute la reconstruction pour se terminer en 1929 par l'inauguration par Mgr Julien , Évêque d'Arras.

L'église de briques à encorbellements de pierre est de style néo-classique. Son portail est surmonté d'un fronton triangulaire à la grecque. La tour-clocher en façade comprend quatre ordres et mesure 52 mètres de hauteur. Elle est surmontée d'une terrasse à balustrade, balustrade que l'on retrouve sous les deux pans du toit d'ardoises, scandée aussi de pots à feu. Les côtés de l'église sont éclairés de six hautes fenêtres. L'église présente un vaisseau sans transept, flanqué de bas-côtés et terminé par une abside semi-circulaire. "
