Lou Ricciarelli is honored with an engraved monument in a pocket park by Gardner's Wharf at the northeast inlet to Wickford Cove in Wickford, Rhode Island. Set on a gray granite plinth, the upward-facing ovoid of polished black granite is engraved:

LOU
RICCIARELLI

MAY THE ROAD RISE TO MEET YOU.
MAY THE WIND BE ALWAYS AT YOUR BACK.
MAY THE SUN SHINE WARM UPON YOUR FACE.
MAY THE RAINS FALL SOFT UPON YOUR LEASE.
AND UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN
MAY GOD HOLD YOU IN
THE HOLLOW OF HIS HAND.

JAN. 15, 1953
JULY 27, 2009

The slightly angled from horizontal face is also adorned with three laser engraved elements: a photo of Mr. Ricciarelli and his dog is attached at the top center; a quahog clam shell at the lower left of the text; and an oyster shell at the lower right.

The monument is accompanied by a park bench and a wind swept evergreen to the north. Low landscape greenery surrounds the rest of the area. A view to the east looks across a narrow marina with berths along the rocky shorelines.

Mr. Ricciarelli was a member of the Rhode Island Shellfish Association, Massachusetts Lobsterman Association, Ocean State Shellfish Cooperative, and Oceanstate Aquaculture Association. He passed away while diving for quahogs from his 25-foot boat, the Chelsea Ann.
