"Miño is a municipality and town in the province of La Coruña (Galicia, Spain), in the Betanzos region. Until 1919 its name was Castro.

Coastal municipality located in the Ría de Betanzos, in the so-called "Mariñas Coruñesas". It limits to the north with the municipality of Puentedeume, to the east with that of Villarmayor and to the south with those of Paderne and Irijoa. The town is located 27 kilometers east of La Coruña, at an altitude of 10 meters above sea level.

The municipality has important communication routes, such as the N-651 Betanzos-Ferrol and the AP-9 highway that also connects these two cities, which makes Miño close to important places in the province, in such a way that La Coruña and Ferrol are 20 minutes away, Betanzos, Puentedeume and Sada just 10 minutes and Santiago de Compostela, 45 minutes.

In addition to its good road communication, it has communication through the railway, with two stops: in Miño and at the Perbes stop, in Villanueva.

It is the place through which the pilgrimages of the "English Way" run, from their departure in the Port of Ferrol, to Compostela, tracing the route along a rich cultural and landscape variety.

Three rivers cross the municipality: the Lambre River, which runs along its current along a route full of charm and which has its mouth in Ponte do Porco, on the border with the municipality of Paderne, forming the Alameda beach. The Baxoi River, which is on the street of the "Camino Inglés" and along its course has a Gothic fountain and a picnic area, where you can stop to rest. Finally its channel runs to its mouth at Playa Grande, forming the marsh at its doors. The Xarío River passes through the parishes of Villanueva and Perbes, ending at one side of Playa Grande de Miño.
