Ter hoogte van de Schotse Hooglandersstraat tussen 14 en 24 te Waspik is een Ecologische VerbindingsZone (EVZ) ingericht. Hier is onder de weg een tunnel aangebracht met spijlen aan de uiteinden zodat dieren de weg veilig kunnen oversteken.

De ecologische verbindingszones gaan versnippering van de Brabantse natuur tegen doordat zij natuurgebieden verbinden. Ze functioneren als trekroutes en als (tijdelijk) leef- en voortplantingsgebied voor dieren en planten."
