The Chisholm Trail Museum is a large, beautifully equipped history museum centered around the Chisholm Trail and the early Kingfisher area. This nicely preserved surrey is on display along with its story.

"A surrey is a doorless, four-wheeled carriage of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Usually two-seated, for four passengers, surreys were popular family vehicles. This surrey has an interesting story. It belonged to William Storms who purchased it shortly before enlisting to fight in World War I. He asked his family not to use the new carriage without him. The surrey was kept in the barn, awaiting its owner's return; however, Storms died of the flu while in the army. His family continued to respect his wishes, leaving the surrey unused until it was donated to the Chisholm Trail Museum. The damage it has sustained is an unfortunate side effect of the passage of time."

The surrey is black, with a convertible canvas top.
