The "then" photo is of the boys' entrance to the YMCA, located on Peach Street, just south of West 10th Street in downtown Erie, Pennsylvania in the 1920s. This photo was published in the book, Erie Reflections, Volume One in 2001 (p. 74). According to the same book, the group of boys pictured were members of the Boys Club of Erie, which "was created as a place for newspaper carriers to socialize when they finished their routes, creating an alternative to 'running in the streets.'" The "now" photo shows this part of the building as it is in 2021. It is no longer used as an entrance, but is covered over with windows. The main entrance to the building, still a YMCA, is located around the corner on West 10th Street.
Year photo was taken: 1920
