De Slegte is a retail chain that buys and sells new books (often leftovers), second-hand books and textbooks. Between July 1, 2013 and March 19, 2014, De Slegte conducted its retail activities, together with bookstore chain Selexyz, under the name Polare. After the bankruptcy of Polare Nederland in 2014, the Belgian branches were bought up and renamed De Slegte again. There are now three "new" De Slegte branches in the Netherlands again, of which Amsterdam is one.
