East of Arcadia, Oklahoma there is a section of the original roadbed of Route 66, being kept original by the Oklahoma County Highway Department. This stretch of road contains two distinctive types of roadway that were used on Rt 66. One was all concrete, the other was asphalt with concrete edging.

This unique stretch of original US 66 features
two different type of paving that meet where
the asphalt roadbed with concrete edges (Federal Aid
Project 137-F) joins the all concrete roadway (Federal
Aid Project 137-G), completed in 1929 and 1928 respectively.
Since its bypass in 1952, it has been maintained by the
Oklahoma County Highway Department.
