First Baptist Church is a small rural church located at the southwest corner of W. Oak and N. Chisholm Trail (Highway 81) on the north side of Dover. The bell is mounted on tall metal poles and includes its yoke, flywheel and a rope to ring it. There is no signage at the bell so we assume it came from an earlier church from this congregation.
This is a cast iron bell which is marked "National Bell Foundry, Cin, O" This foundry which operated in Cincinnati is reported to have operated between 1901 and 1921. The bell has the size "30" marked on it. Some additional painting has been added to the bell, but it was highly weathered and unreadable. It appeared to read: "Land where the ???"
