This bronze plaque has a small relief of Mr. Wright, and the text reads:

C.H. Punch Wright
Tarrant County Commissioner - 1951-70

-----

Punch Wright served for 20 years on the Tarrant County Commissioner's Court. He assisted in the 1964 Tarrant County bond election to build Turnpike Stadium. That election, coupled with a similar, successful bond election in Dallas County, eventually allowed Major League Baseball to move to Arlington. The new stadium opened as the home of the Texas League's Dallas-Fort Worth Spurs in 1965. The stadium was expanded to 21,000 seats in 1971. A year later, the ballpark was renamed Arlington Stadium and became the home of the American League's Texas Rangers.
