Although it's named "New Spring", doesn't look and feel like it's new at all. It's located by the shores of Alqueva dam lake, considered the largest artificial dam lake in Europe. However, the spring is not related with the lake's water. It existed before the creation of the lake in the late 20th century.

Nowadays there is a structure made of stone with a plate dated 2004 and with the name of the local parish.
