A stone medallion bas-relief bust of Samuel S. Foss is embedded among the central windows between the second and third floors of The Buell Building, home of The Call newspaper, in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. A small cast bronze plate is mounted to the northeast side of the building's entrance and reads:
SAMUEL S. FOSS
1821 - 1879
FATHER OF WOONSOCKET JOURNALISM
THIS BAS-RELIEF ERECTED ON FOSS MEMORIAL
BUILDING 1887
MOVED TO THIS SITE IN 1971

Foss was the publisher of the historical weekly newspapers Woonsocket Patriot and Rhode-Island State Register from 1854 through 1876. (Source: Library of Congress) He was born in West Boylston, Massachusetts, to English parents Robert Foss (b. 5 April 1787) and Lydia (nee. Simms) Foss (b. 14 January 1788). He married Amey Ann Hendrick (b. 1 January 1833) in 1851 in Connecticut. (Source: My Hertitage)

From what I gather, the Foss Memorial Building was No. 185 Main Street at the corner of Court Street. The location, a few blocks to the northeast, is now a small urban park with some existing Waymarks: a historic marker, a veterans memorial, and a town clock.
