StudioZ Gallery is owned and operated by artist Zonly Looman.. Zonly has a unique style of colorful and energetic pieces. His Native American background can be readily seen in his work. The buffalo is a common theme. His work includes oil paintings, as well as custom painted shoes, and he designs and provides tattoos. Though only in business a few years, he has a long list of exhibits and achievements.
His studio is located at 9W4 - whaaat? 9 West 4th Street. While eating lunch at Whataburger, one block south, I caught sight of two extraordinary colorful "things". Driving to the location, we discovered this totally abstract and fascinating buffalo, made of bicycles parts and painted gold. Though highly abstract, and with no descriptive plaque, the viewer can see the arched back of the buffalo and his walking steps. The scupture is about 8 ft. high and 12 feet nose to tail. Well worth a visit. Amazing!
