This sculpture of St. Benedict, depicted prostrate in prayer, is on the grounds of Holy Family Catholic Church in Nazareth. According to the plaque the statue was donated by church members.

St. Benedict of Nursia, who lived from c. 2 March 480 to c. 21 March 547 AD, is best known for the Benedictine Rule. These guidelines by which monks should live avoided extremism and instead demonstrate a unique spirit of balance, moderation and reasonableness with a particular focus on obedience and humility. The Rule was widely adopted and Benedict is considered to be the founder of Western Christian monasticism. He is believed to have died of a fever at Monte Cassino a few years after the death of his sister, St. Scholastica, and was buried with her. A statue of St. Scholastica is nearby.
