The Second Congregation Society was formed in 1847 Congregationalist in Palmer agreed to split into two sections. The First Congregation Church was built in the Thorndike Village and the Second Congregational Church in the Depot Village areas of Palmer. This is the second building of the Second Congregational Church it was built in 1909 after the first church was destroyed by fire by an arsonist.
The Second Congregational Church is designed by Alfred L. Darrow in the Craftsman style and is one of the best examples of the Arts and Craft movement of the post Victorian era. MACRIS: (visit link)

A protruding entrance is in the center of the building at the base of a three-story high tower with a pyramidal roof topped by a weather vane. The south side block has a protruding cross gable section containing a triple two-story high stained glass window flanked by a pair of smaller rectangular stained glass windows. To the south is a an auxiliary entrance and a single 9 by 9 double hung window. The north side block is two bays wide with 9 by 9 double hung windows at each bay. In the center of the gable roof is a dormer with three 9 panes square windows. A one bay wide extension is attached to the north side.
