On the grave of the Right Reverend Rogers Israel, the first Episcopalian bishop of Erie, is displayed his coat of arms. The gravesite is located in the Erie Cemetery on Chestnut Street in Erie, Pennsylvania. The grave includes a large Celtic cross, as well as a large stone with the coat of arms, and listing Israel's birth and death dates, along with those of his wife, Sara.

Israel was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1854. He was ordained in 1886 and was consecrated as a Bishop in the Episcopal church for the new Diocese of Erie in 1911. He died in January of 1921.
