The library started out in 1974 as 500 books in a little trailer.
It has been in its current location since 1983.

The Florence Library houses approximately 12,000 items in the collection. Special sections include Texas fiction for children and adults, Texas non-fiction, Texas reference titles, and a growing collection of Spanish language titles for adults and children. Local archival records are also on file.
This library participates in TexShare.
The library has some classes (when there's not a pandemic - check the website), such as a Spanish class and yoga. The yarn club meets there, too.
