In this community art project, the neighborhood wanted to see something with nature, in line with the environment. The oak tree that contains the jay refers to the history of Waalwijk. Because there was a lot of water and oak trees available in Waalwijk, the tannery industry was able to flourish here. This is where the shoe industry comes from. The jay is the bird that is most responsible for the distribution of acorns and thus also for the distribution of oak trees.
