This is a sample of hórreos (cabaceiros, canastros, piornos... lot of names) which are elevated constructions in which grain, flour, ham, sausages were stored ... The reason for being elevated is that this way the rodents climbed by the feet and when they reached the top and turned upside down, they fell. The "hórreos" in Galicia, etc. are examples of Atlantic constructions that there are in countries of this ocean or of Celtic traditions.
"Set of twelve "hórreos". The first one we find is in a private estate, it is in good condition. Behind this there are five more, two of them have three pairs of feet, the others with two pairs. Except for one, two that have three feet, the other four are in very poor condition. Another six form another group that are also in very bad condition. All of them follow the same pattern, feet and "tornarratos" of stone and the others of wood, with a tile roof."
