A large rectangular monument honors the members of the Machine Gun Company of the 1st Infantry of the Connecticut National Guard. It is located in the Northwood Cemetery, which is owned by the City of Hartford, in Windsor, CT.

The 1st Infantry Regiment of the Connecticut National Guard was formed in Hartford in 1672 in response to attacks by the Pequot and Narragansett tribes. The Machine Gun Company was formed in 1915 and sent to the Mexican Border in response to border attack by Pancho Villa. In 1917 the troops were federalized as part of the 102nd Infantry of the 26th Yankee Division for service in World War I.
A large rough cult granite monument has a smooth dado which is inscribed:

A small circular bronze medallion at the top is inscribed with cross rifles and the initials. 1 MG CT. A diamond shaped bronze medallion at he bottom has the monogram initials YD (Yankee Division).
