The tomb of the "Apostle of the Alleghenies" is open to visitors from dawn to dusk. There is a statue of him above the crypt. The tomb lies on the property of the Basilica.
The crypt is not handicapped accessible. There are steps leading to the tomb.
Parking is available nearby, on either side of the Basilica.
Description: Demetrius Gallitzin was born into royalty at the Hague. He came to America as part of his education. He entered the Seminary and provided the foundation of the Roman Catholic Church in western Pennsylvania.
He has been named a Servant of God, the first step in possible Sainthood.
