On the south side of the Edmond post office is the memorial for the victims of a massacre. The massacre shed light on the stress faced by postal workers, and the phrase "Going Postal" came to be. There is a book written on the incident, and the crime was international news.

The Yellow Ribbon is a beautiful sculpture placed in a fountain at the Edmond Post Office as a memorial to the victims of the massacre that occured here in 1986. There are two figures: a man and a woman, standing next to and holding each other, and a yellow ribbon. It's a very tall sculpture, and easily seen by those driving down Broadway in Downtown Edmond. The height of the sculpture, as well as being the centerpiece of a beautiful fountain, makes it an eye-catching piece.
