In celebration of the 350th anniversary of the Town of Suffield, a barn quilt trail was established throughout the town. Some painted barn quilts are bases on traditional patterns and others are more modern in their design.
The "Farm Squares" barn quilt was created by Maggie Sleeper. Using geometric shapes, she created the same farm scene four times: a pair of barns, a with a mountain and a sunrise. Each scene has shades of different color combinations: UL = yellow and blue; UR = red, orange, yellow , green blue; LL = blue; LR = blue and white. The effect is to suggest the barn scene in different seasons.
Your Visit:
The barn is on the west side of Main Street. The property is surrounded by hedges but the owners have marked a gap in the hedges where you can get a clear view of the barn and barn quilt. This is one of the most beautiful barns along the Suffield Barn Quilt Trail.
