Wall Street is one of the main business roads in Norwalk, CT. Over the past few years there has been a rebirth of many of these buildings, with businesses moving into empty spots. There is now an art gallery, an LGBT bar, a smoothie shop, and a Mexican restaurant, just to name a few of the new businesses that have moved in. Longtime businesses include a coffee shop, a natural apothecary, several barber shops, a community theatre, and a popular upscale BBQ restaurant.
In the center of it all is what local residents call the Tyvek Tower, a building that was started but never finished and now looms over Wall Street. Plans to buy and finish this building have come up and fallen through numerous times.
This mural appeared in 2020. It is called Wall Street is on the Rise, and features a cheerful bunch of colorful balloons floating up to the sky. It is painted in such a way that someone could pose as though they are holding the balloons. On the ground level are pieces of Tyvek blowing in the wind.
This mural is one of many sponsored by a local real estate investor, Jason Milligan. He and the mayor of Norwalk have had an ongoing dispute regarding whether murals in town are legal and if there need to be more zoning regulations. You can read more about the mural wars here: (
