The gardens only grow plants endemic to Central Australia with over 250 different species planted and 145 species growing naturally on the rocky hills in the reserve. More than 30 of the plants are rare or threatened species.
There are a number of self guided walks that show the various desert flora, including wattle , mallee, bush medicine and bush tucker.
