The Stuart Memorial Cemetery listing of known burials from the first in 1889 till the last in 1932 reflects the slow growth of the Town of Stuart. The burials include Frank Rees George (1864-1906),known for his geological expeditions, Daniel Pedlar (1861-1927), the first to locate wolframite deposits found vital to the war effort, and Johannes Ferdinand Meuller (1850-1922) the first stationmaster at the Alice Springs Telegraph Station.
