The White Star is owned by the Titanic Brewery and was opened in 2008. The hanging sign has a red flag with a white star in the middle set on a blue background with the name of the pub in white lettering on a red background.

The flag on the pub sign depicts the flag of the The Oceanic Steam Navigation Company or White Star Line of Boston Packers, more commonly known as just White Star Line. It was a prominent British shipping company. Founded in 1845, the line operated a fleet of clipper ships that sailed between Britain and Australia. Today it is most famous for their innovative vessel Oceanic of 1870, and the Olympic class ocean liners, including the ill-fated RMS Titanic. (visit link)

This is an award winning pub that has town centre location. It has a split level bar with remembrances of the ill fated Titanic on display around the walls.

Titanic Brewery to stop running Stoke-on-Trent pub after 14 years

The White Star has been hit by the coronavirus pandemic
Titanic Brewery is to stop running one of Stoke-on-Trent's best-known pubs.

Bosses have made the announcement after deciding not to renew their agreement to run the Stoke boozer beyond June 30.
The company blamed the decision on the coronavirus pandemic with no events at the Kings Hall and Stoke City matches played behind closed doors.

It has been run as a Titanic pub for the past 14 years and comes as neighbouring restaurant Baby Russets has announced its shock closure.

Titanic Brewery managing director Keith Bott said: "We will no longer be running The White Star from June 30.

It has been run as a Titanic pub for the past 14 years and comes as neighbouring restaurant Baby Russets has announced its shock closure.

Titanic Brewery managing director Keith Bott said: "We will no longer be running The White Star from June 30. Our current agreement with our landlord ends and we have decided not to renew.

"The White Star has been a Titanic pub for 14 years so it’s a sad day. It has been an incredibly difficult decision but the pandemic has taken its toll. Severely restricted trade over the last year, no events at the Kings Hall, and no football fans left us with no choice.

"Everyone at Titanic would like to thank everyone who has frequented The White Star – publicans customers and staff alike - since 2007.

"We look forward to welcoming you to our other pubs and bod café bars in the area. You will always be assured a warm welcome."

Hawthorn Pub Company - which owns the Kingsway venue - is now looking for a new operator. It owns and manages more than 700 community pubs around the UK."
