Tilburg University is a Catholic university in Tilburg and specializes in human and social sciences. Tilburg University annually organizes various activities (lectures, conferences, educational programmes) that can be traced back to its identity.
The university was founded by Martinus Cobbenhagen in 1927 as the Roman Catholic Handelshoogeschool. In 1936 it was renamed Catholic Economic University of Applied Sciences, and in 1963 – when the faculties of Law and Social Sciences were founded – Tilburg Catholic University (KHT).
17,345 students were registered at Tilburg University in the 2019-2020 academic year. Eleven thousand students were registered as Bachelor's students, and there are about five thousand Master's students.

De universiteit werd in 1927 opgericht door Martinus Cobbenhagen als de rooms-katholieke Handelshoogeschool. In 1936 werd het omgedoopt tot Katholieke Economische Hogeschool en in 1963 – toen de faculteiten Rechtsgeleerdheid en Sociale Wetenschappen werden opgericht – Katholieke Universiteit Tilburg (KHT).
In studiejaar 2019-2020 stonden 17.345 studenten ingeschreven aan Tilburg University. Elfduizend studenten stonden ingeschreven als bachelorstudent en er zijn zo'n vijfduizend masterstudenten.
