This Lincoln Highway Marker is located on California Avenue, near the intersection with 1st Street, in Chester, West Virginia. According to the map on the Lincoln Highway Association website, this was part of the third generation of the Lincoln Highway route. The marker is two blocks from where the road once crossed the Ohio River.
Next to the marker is a sign that says "Pughtown," which is named after Dr. David S. Pugh, a local man for whom the nearby overlook at the Ohio River is named.
