This work was made by artist Dick Postema. The two sculptures are made of openwork rusted corten steel. Both the rust color and this old technique (also called openwork) refer to the past, while the abstraction clearly indicates much more recent modern art. The statue was unveiled on March 9, 1990 by then mayor Bram Peper. The work had to be temporarily removed due to the renovation of the café around the corner. It then had to make way for a storage facility for the building materials, but it was then returned to its original location.
