"A la fin du XVIIéme siècle, le roi Louis XVI autorise leur démolition qui se poursuivra jusque dans les années 1850."
La Porte de Saignon est un des vestiges de ces remparts. En 1823, elle sera partiellement reconstruite et sera surplombée d'une horloge et d'un campanile.
