Jan Zamoyski (1542-1605) - hetman wielki koronny Rzeczypospolitej Obojga Narodów od roku 1581. Humanista-mecenas, filolog, magnat.
Jan Zamoyski siedzący na koniu, to pomnik który znajduje się w mieście Zamość, przy ulicy Akademickiej. Miasto to zostało założone w 1580 r. na gruntach wsi Skokówka, właśnie przez Jana Zamoyskiego jako nowa siedziba rodowa i stolica zamierzonej ordynacji zamojskiej. Na cokole znajduje się imię i nazwisko, oraz lata życia. Całość ma około 10 metrów. Hetman trzyma prawą rękę ku górze, a w niej berło.
"Monument został zaprojektowany przez krakowskiego rzeźbiarza, profesora Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Krakowie Mariana Koniecznegο, twórcy m.in. Pomnika Bohaterów Warszawy. Pomnik odsłonięto 17 września 2005 roku, w 400. rocznicę śmierci Jana Zamoyskiego."

Jan Zamoyski sitting on a horse is a monument situated in Zamość, in Akademicka Street. The town was founded in 1580 on the land belonging to Skokówka village by Jan Zamoyski as a new family seat and the capital of the intended Zamość entail. The pedestal bears his name and years of his life. The whole structure is about 10 meters high. The Hetman holds his right hand upwards with a sceptre in it.
"The monument was designed by the Cracow sculptor, professor of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow Marian Konieczny, creator, among others, of the Monument to the Warsaw Heroes. The monument was unveiled on September 17, 2005, on the 400th anniversary of Jan Zamoyski's death."
