The Church was originally built by the settlers of Philipsburg, 1820, as a log meeting house. Used as both a church, open to all Protestant ministers, and a school house. In 1842 was rebuilt utilizing the original log building. The front entrance featured a three story tower. A chancel was added to the rear of the logs structure which was incorporated into the main sanctuary. The exterior was finished in stucco.
The Graveyard is surrounded by a three foot stone wall. There are stones on three sides of the church and dated as early as 1819.
