County of crossing: Warren County
Location of crossing: State Hwy B, just N. of MO-94, near Case

I was headed for Gasconade County, Owensville actually, and this is the best route from my home.
Traveling down State Hwy B from Pendleton, I saw a young Alagitor Snapping Turtle, helped him across, but no photo because of crabby and impatient drivers.
Saw a Painted Box Turtle, stopped an let him get out of our lane, again, horn honking morons.

Then saw this guy, no cars behind me. Stopped moved him in his direction of travel, and got this shot as he exited stage left.

"The eastern box turtle (Terrapene carolina carolina), also known as land turtle, is a subspecies within a group of hinge-shelled turtles, normally called box turtles. T. C. Carolina is native to the eastern part of the United States.

"The eastern box turtle is a subspecies of the common box turtle (Terrapene carolina). While in the pond turtle family, Emydidae, and not a tortoise, the box turtle is largely terrestrial. Box turtles are slow crawlers, extremely long lived, slow to mature, and have relatively few offspring per year. These characteristics, along with a propensity to get hit by cars and agricultural machinery, make all box turtle species particularly susceptible to anthropogenic, or human-induced, mortality." ~ Wikipedia

Describe what happened. Example
"Mother Blanding had made her nest between the goldenrod and bluestem outside my window late last June.
By chance we were sitting on the porch when we noticed little blandings in the same location we had seen the mother take 2 months earlier."
