DE: Über das Rathaus:
Das im Zeitraum von November 2017 bis Februar 2021 neu errichtete Rathaus für die Stadt Bedburg im Stadtteil Kaster ersetzt das Anfang 2018 zum großen Teil abgerissene Gebäude in Kaster und die Nebenstellen an der Adolf-Silverberg-Straße (Hoch- und Tiefbau- sowie das Kulturamt) und an der Lindenstraße (Amt für Ordnung und Soziales sowie Schule und Bildung samt Jugendamt und das dortige Bürgerbüro). Mit der Fertigstellung des Neubaus und der daran anschließenden Renovierung der bis dato genutzten Teile des Altbaus befinden sich sämtliche Abteilungen der Stadtverwaltung in einem modernen und schlichten dreistöckigem Haus und garantieren dem Bürger damit kurze Wege für seine Anliegen.
Die Zusammenlegung der verteilten Bereiche der Verwaltung wurde nach über 25 Jahren der Diskussion in einem Bürgerentscheid im Jahr 2013 beschlossen, der Erweiterungsbau war mit neun Millionen Euro und zwei Jahren Bauzeit vom Generalplaner und dem Architekturbüro Anderhalten Architekten veranschlagt, benötigt wurden zum Ende aber gut vierzehn Millionen Euro und anderthalb Jahre mehr Bauzeit.

Über die Stadt:
Die Stadt Bedburg mit ihren rund 25.000 Einwohnern befindet sich im nordwestlichen Zipfel des Rhein-Erft-Kreises. Bedburg selbst wurde 893 erstmals erwähnt, 1148 erhielt Bedburg Stadtrechte. Der heutige Ortsteil Kaster mit dem historischen Ortskern Alt-Kaster wurde im 13. Jahrhundert errichtet, erhielt 1328 ebenfalls Stadtrechte und wurde nach einem Stadtbrand im Jahr 1624 wieder aufgebaut. Aus der Zeit um 1570 bis 1589 stammt auch der als Werwolf vom Bedburg bekannt gewordene Serienmörder Peter Stump. Die meisten Häuser im historischen Ortskern stammen zumindest in Teilen noch aus der Zeit nach dem Stadtbrand, andere wurden im Stil an die damalige Zeit angepasst.
Die erforderliche Umsiedlung einiger Ortschaften (wie Epprath) nördlich von Kaster durch den Braunkohleabbau führte zu einigen Neubaugebieten um den Stadtkern von Kaster und entsprechenden neuen Ortsteilen. Mit der kommunalen Verwaltungsreform im November 1974 wurde die Stadt Bedburg aus den bis dahin selbständigen Städten Bedburg und Kaster sowie den Gemeinden Lipp, Königshoven und Pütz gebildet.

The new town hall for the city of Bedburg in the Kaster district, which was built between November 2017 and February 2021, replaces the building in Kaster, which was largely demolished at the beginning of 2018, and the branches on Adolf-Silverberg-Straße (civil engineering - as well as the cultural office) and on Lindenstrasse (office for order and social affairs as well as school and education including youth welfare office and the local citizens' office). With the completion of the new building and the subsequent renovation of the previously used parts of the old building, all departments of the city administration are located in a modern and simple three-story house and thus guarantee citizens short distances for their concerns.
The amalgamation of the distributed areas of administration was decided after more than 25 years of discussion in a referendum in 2013, the extension building was estimated at nine million euros and two years of construction time by the general planner and the architecture office Anderhalten Architekten, but they needed in the end a good fourteen million euros and one and a half years more construction time.

On the town:
The city of Bedburg with around 25,000 inhabitants is located in the northwest corner of the Rhein-Erft district. Bedburg itself was first mentioned in 893, and in 1148 Bedburg received city rights. The current district of Kaster with the historic center of Alt-Kaster was built in the 13th century, also received city rights in 1328 and was rebuilt after a city fire in 1624. The serial killer Peter Stump, who became known as the Werewolf of Bedburg, also dates from around 1570 to 1589. Most of the houses in the historic town center date, at least in part, from the time after the town fire, while others have been adapted in style to that time.
The necessary relocation of some localities (such as Epprath) north of Kaster due to lignite mining led to some new building areas around the city center of Kaster and corresponding new districts. With the municipal administrative reform in November 1974, the town of Bedburg was formed from the previously independent towns of Bedburg and Kaster and the communities of Lipp, Königshoven and Pütz.
