On 23 April, 1755, During the Seven Years War/ French and Indian War Benjamin Franklin, George Washington and Edward Braddock to plan the British attack on Fort Dusquesne in Pittsburgh. During this meeting Franklin (who was also Postmaster General of the colonies) was able to provide mail, carriages and supplies to Braddock while also warning him of possible ambush in his route. Though he was able to avoid ambush, and attack Fort Dusquesne, it was unsuccessful and during retreat he was shot through the chest and died.
The marker itself is on private property that boarders the Carroll Creek Park, you do not need to cross the property line to see or read the marker. It is a plaque on a cement block in a circle of grey stones.
