This bench in honour of the fallen of WWI, can be found in St. Mary de Ballaugh Churchyard. The Bench is located close to the Ballaugh Parish War Memorial and looks of the church and the entrance to the church.
The bench is made of steel which is painted black and has a wooden slatted seat. The backrest features a representation the leaning gateposts of the old St. Mary de Ballaugh Church which can be found in The Cronk. Between the gateposts is a British Soldier, dress in the uniform of WWI with his head bowed towards a simple cross grave marker.
To the left of the gateposts is a ploughman with single horse pulling a plough which represents the agricultural basis of the Parish of Ballaugh which does not have a strong fishing or maritime tradition.
Below the ploughman is a rectangular metal plaque with the following inscription:
“Presented by Ballaugh Commissioner in November 2018
On behalf of the parishioners of Ballaugh Parish in remembrance of those who fought for their country.
