Social Sofa is a sofa with mosaic placed in a public space, after an idea by Karin Bruers. The benches are made of concrete and have a length of 2.24 m and the shape of a chaise longue.

Bruers came up with this idea to bring people into contact with each other. She wanted to see 1000 of these sofas, or bènkskes (Tilburgs), installed in Tilburg. The first 23 were unveiled on the Heuvel in September 2006 by the Mayor.

Sofa's have also been installed in other places in the Netherlands, such as Amsterdam, Eindhoven and Heerlen. Sofa's have been placed in Eindhoven (2010) and Leiden (2011) as part of the Serious Request aid campaign.

The thousandth sofa arrived in Tilburg in 2013, also unveiled on the Heuvel by the Mayor
