On Sunday 28 January 1945 at seven o'clock in the morning, the residents of Baardwijk were woken up by an enormous bang. A flying bomb has drilled into the ground behind the Laage end. Four houses were completely destroyed and fifteen houses were immediately uninhabitable, while thirty others were damaged.
Eight people were killed and twenty-five injured.
