This park is known by many names. According to the township's map board on site, this is Waterfront Park. According to the township's sign on the east wall of the canteen building, this is D. J. McLaughlin Park. There is also a water fountain from 1991 dedicated to James D. McLaughlin Memorial Park. James McLaughlin served the village of Cardinal for 18 years.
There is a playground east of the canteen building. West of that building there is a beach volleyball section. Between the large picnic shelter and the river, there are eight well-maintained horseshoe pits.
In addition to the geocache cited below, there are two traditional caches upstream, towards Lock 27.
