This small pantry, right on a shady footpath near the heart of Newcastle, is strapped to the back fence of an overgrown backyard of a residence for stability. (That house entrance is from the Gordan Avenue 'side street'.) The white-painted wood, two-door cupboard has 'FREE PANTRY', and 'FREE FOOD' painted on the left-hand side; with '+ LIBRARY' on the right-hand door. Both doors have a small glass pane. A simple shelf is in each side.
This day there was only a packet of Cheese-flavoured Rice Crackers, and a x5 Pack of 2 minute Noodles - which didn't leave much room on the top shelf - though the bottom shelf was empty.
[The Free Library, on the right-hand side was also fairly 'light-on' with only half a dozen books.]
The Facebook weblink implies that it could be connected with the local Hunter Community Environment Centre - wherever that is - article from September 18, 2020.
(My older son lives nearby, and frequently walks past it, and notified me of his find.)
