DE: Durch die Baggertätigkeiten in der Grube Neurath, ab 1987 Tagebau Garzweiler genannt, wurde die Umsiedlung verschiedener Gemeinden notwendig. Die kleine Gemeinde Alt-Epprath war für die Umsiedlung im Zeitraum von 1958 bis 1968 vorgesehen, die damalige RheinBraun-AG errichtete zu diesem Zweck für die Umsiedler im Osten von Bedburg-Kaster den neuen Stadtteil Epprath, der sich damit etwa 2km südlich der ursprünglichen Siedlung befindet. 1965 wurde die 1893 errichtete Marien-Kapelle am alten Ort abgetragen und in der Siedlung aus dem Baumaterial wieder aufgebaut. Die Kapelle steht heute unter Denkmalschutz.

EN: The excavation work in the Neurath mine, known as the Garzweiler opencast mine from 1987 onwards, made it necessary to relocate various communities. The small community of Alt-Epprath was intended for resettlement in the period from 1958 to 1968, the then RheinBraun-AG built the new district of Epprath for the resettlers in the east of Bedburg-Kaster, which is located about 2km south of the original settlement. In 1965, the Marien Chapel, built in 1893, was removed from the old location and rebuilt from the building material in the settlement. The chapel is now a listed building.
