[FR] De nombreuses donations, notamment par le comte de Flandre, permettent aux Templiers de créer de nombreuses maisons en Flandre. Thierry d'Alsace, 15e comte de Flandre, crée à Douai en 1155 la Maison Notre-Dame. Elle est construite sur un terrain marécageux, au-delà des défenses de la ville, à l'extérieur de la porte des Wetz. Les terrains sont rendus productifs par les travaux d'asséchements des Templiers.
La porte ogivale est surmontée d'une clé de voûte sur laquelle figure une croix de Malte. Il était à l'intérieur d'un enclos protégés par de profonds fossés alimentés par la Scarpe.Ils ne restent aujourd'hui que la porte extérieur et le bâtiment du fond de la cour, réunis par un jardin avec un puit en pierre.
[EN] Numerous donations, notably by the count of Flanders, allowed the Templars to create many houses in Flanders. Thierry d'Alsace, 15th count of Flanders, created the Maison Notre-Dame in Douai in 1155. It was constructed on swampy ground beyond the cities defenses, outside the Gate of Wetz. The ground was made productive through the draining of the swamp by the Templars.
The ogival gate is topped by a keystone on which figures the cross of Malta. It was inside an enclosure protected by deep ditches flooded by water from the Scarpe river. All that remains today is the exterior gate and the building at the back of the courtyard connected by a yard with a stone well.
