Lancaster III ND715 PH-R ,van 12 Squadron stortte neer in de velden aan Den Diel, na gevechten met Duitse nachtjagers. Vermoedelijk is het toestel al in de lucht ontploft. Alle bemanningsleden kwamen om, ze kregen een laatste rustplaats op het Schoonselhof.

On 22 April 1944, RAF Lancaster ND715 of the 12th squadron took off from its base RAF Wickenby (Lincolshire) at around 10.56pm.

Along with 595 other aircraft, including 322 Lacasters, 254 Halifaxes and 19 Mosquitoes, they would bomb industrial complexes in Dusseldorf.
