Steph Mayton painted this creepy mural for RED VEIN ESCAPE -- "a year round, multi-themed escape room company" -- of Ashland, Virginia, in 2019. At first glance, the work shows a lone figure in a blood red cloak whose back is up against a black silhouette of large barren tree on a hill. A closer look reveals a clock in the tree's trunk, a collection of small woodland creatures, and an antique diving helmet. Clues, perhaps, of what awaits inside the gameroom?
The piece spreads out a good 30 feet along a solid white background and stretches to the second story windows. The artist's signature is at the lower left.
Here's her Facebook post that documents its completion.
