Jean-Michel Solvès, a graduate of the Beaux-Arts de Paris, is a painter, sculptor and draftsman. He created La Dame de Bourgenay, at the port of Bourgenay, in Talmont-Saint-Hilaire, in homage to the founder of the Benedictine convent in Sables-d'Olonne.

Située au port de Bourgenay, qui fait partie de la commune de Talmont St Hilaire,
cette statue en bronze patiné a été réalisée par Jean-Michel Solves.
Elle fait référence au naufrage, le 16 décembre 1631, de Charlotte Flandrine de Nassau, fille de Guillaume de Nassau, fondatrice du couvent des Bénédictines des Sables.
Suite à son sauvetage, elle fait élever à Notre-Dame, sur le rivage de Bourgenay où
elle aborda, une chapelle où elle plaça la statue de la Vierge qui ornait la proue de son bateau.

Our Lady of Bourgenay

Located in the port of Bourgenay, which is part of the town of Talmont St Hilaire,
this statue in patinated bronze was made by Jean-Michel Solves.
It refers to the shipwreck, on December 16, 1631, of Charlotte Flandrine de Nassau, daughter of William of Nassau, founder of the convent of the Benedictine nuns of Sables.
Following her rescue, she had a chapel built for Notre-Dame on the shore of Bourgenay where she
where she landed, a chapel where she placed the statue of the Virgin that adorned the prow of her boat.

"TO CHARLOTTE FLANDRUE DE NASSAU, ABBESS OF THE MONASTERY OF SAINTE-CROIX DE POITIERS AND FOUNDER OF THE CONVENT OF BENEDICTINE NUNS OF SABLES. HAVING SURVIVED A SHIPWRECK, SHE HAD NOTRE DAME DE BOURGENAY BUILT IN 1631. "
