Known as Rungutjirpa to the Arrernte Aboriginal people, Simpsons Gap was the mythological home of a group of giant goanna ancestors. Simpson's Gap features towering cliffs, a permanent waterhole and opportunities to spot resident wildlife when at dawn and dusk you might see Black-footed Rock-wallabies

 Access: By car follow Larapinta Drive for 17kms turn right a further 7kms to the parking area , then 200m walk.
By bicycle follow Simpson's Gap Trail from town centre
