DE: Vor dem Museum für Alltagsgeschichte an der Ecke Pastoratstraße und Kempishofstraße in Brühl befindet sich ein alter Ziehbrunnen. Erbaut wurde der Brunnen um 1250 mit der Gründung des Gutshofes des Ritters von Hersel, damals auch als "Herseler Hof" bekannt. Mit dem Verkauf des Hofes an Andreas Kempis im Jahr 1668 wurde der Hof in Kempishof umbenannt.
Im Verlauf der Jahrhunderte sank der Grundwasserspiegel in der Kölner Bucht, also wurde der etwa 21m tiefe Brunnen zugeschüttet. 1988 wurde der Brunnen bei Strassenarbeiten wieder entdeckt und im Jahr 1997 wieder ausgegraben und der obere Teil mit Ziegeln neu errichtet. Eine Lampe im Brunnen erlaubt den Blick auf den trockenen Boden.

EN: In front of the Museum of history of everyday life on the corner of Pastoratstrasse and Kempishofstrasse in Brühl there is an old draw well. The well was built around 1250 with the establishment of the estate of the knight of Hersel, at that time also known as "Herseler Hof". When the farm was sold to Andreas Kempis in 1668, the farm was renamed Kempishof.
Over the centuries, the water table in the Cologne Bay sank, so the approximately 21m deep well was filled in. In 1988 the well was rediscovered during road works and in 1997 it was dug up again and the upper part was rebuilt with bricks. A lamp in the fountain allows a view of the dry ground.
